From various reports, in-house research and in the manner ICEA Lion General Insurance Company (ILGIC) recently handled and resolved a long standing dispute between the insured and the complainant in a motor-vehicle accident, almost 10 years, we at Cofek unreservedly recommend the ILGIC to Kenyan consumers.
The reason we do this is out the of the pervading sense of frustrations many consumers face when interacting with insurance companies. Majority of them exist to only collect premiums. Compensation is a completely different ballgame.
While at it, we want to highly commend the humble but highly professional ILGIC CEO Mr Philip Lopokoyit and his equally professional team that includes Ms Jane Muiru.

Mr Lopokoyit offered in companies as diverse as Flamingo Horticulture Kenya and British American Tobacco (in both East and Central Africa, West Africa and Nigeria)having begun his professional career at PricewaterhouseCoopers.
He also carried responsibilities of a Non-Executive Director in various NCBA and NIC Group entities within Kenya and Uganda, as well as on the Boards of CIC Insurance Group and CIC Asset Management.
He holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Warwick Business School, United Kingdom and a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from the University of Nairobi.
ICEA LION General Insurance Company (ILIGIC) provides general insurance. The company was founded in 2011. It operates as a subsidiary of ICEA LION Insurance Holdings Limited. The Group was formed when Insurance Company of East Africa Limited (ICEA) and Lion of Kenya Insurance Company Limited (LOK) merged in 2011.
