Motorcycle financier, Watu Credit, is engulfed in yet another storm of claims that it robs its’ borrowers as they near settlement of their loans.
On Wednesday, angry bodaboda cyclists blocked the busy Nairobi – Mombasa Highway at Makindu to protest an incident in which one of their own was murdered before being robbed of his motorcyle.
The company has severally been slammed on social media with many others echoing the outcry that it allegedly steals the motorbikes they offer on credit once a customer has cleared the loan.
We could not reach the Watu Credit Country Manager Eric Massawe (pictured). The firm’s public relations agency, however, denied the allegations saying they were untrue and a calculated malice by competition.

In November last year, a Senate Committee called for the probe of Watu Credit.
According to our sources, the planned investigations were interfered and Committee chaired by Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei clearing Watu Credit under unclear circumstances.
Watu Credit have equally been embroiled in many court cases including the Watu Credit Nominees Company vs the Republic of Kenya, in May this year, where they successfully contested the orders of forfeiture made by Hon. Principal Magistrate D. M. Ndungi, on the motor cycle registration number KMFV 019D.
National Police Service has been slow to take decisive action of investigating the claims against Watu Credit
