Complaints swell on Watamu Mapango restaurant selling bad food

I am writing to formally report serious food safety violations at Watamu Mapango Restaurant in Watamu.

After dining there, several individuals in my group experienced severe food poisoning, including persistent diarrhea, vomiting, and high fever that lasted for five days.

These symptoms are indicative of significant lapses in hygiene and food safety practices at this establishment.

Disturbingly, I have discovered numerous similar reports from other patrons, including Italian, German, and Lithuanian visitors.

Some individuals have even reported finding worms in their food, a clear indication of gross negligence in food handling and preparation.

The systemic nature of these violations poses a grave threat to public health. Small children, in particular, are at an elevated risk of severe complications, and such conditions could result in fatalities if not addressed immediately. This matter is not only a public health concern but also a potential criminal issue.

In light of these serious allegations, I urgently request the following actions:

  1. Immediate inspection of Watamu Mapango Restaurant to assess hygiene and food safety compliance.
  2. Temporary closure of the restaurant until it fully adheres to all health and safety regulations.
  3. Involvement of law enforcement authorities to investigate whether criminal negligence has occurred, as the lives of vulnerable individuals, especially children, are at risk.
  4. Accountability measures to ensure the safety of future patrons, including penalties for confirmed violations.

This is a matter of public safety and cannot be ignored. I urge you to act swiftly and decisively to prevent further harm and potential loss of life. I am available to provide further details or supporting evidence as needed.

Sincerely,
Andrius Slavinskas
