National Assembly still “sitting on” petition on Sh55bn spent without parliament nod

The National Assembly is still holding the COFEK petition which sough Parliament to investigate the circumstances and transparency thereof following spending of over Sh55bn without parliamentary approval in the run-up to the transitional elections of July and August, 2022

Petition number 4 of 2022 was committed to the Public Petitions Committee, led by Nimrod Mbai on November 9, 2022.

The petition outcome is yet to be communicated almost 600 days and counting.

Credible sources indicate nearly all of the public petitions are yet to be processed and that comparatively lesser bills have been processed compared to other regimes in the National Assembly.
